The film revolves
around the life of USA Olympian and athlete Louis
"Louie" Zamperini, portrayed by Jack O'Connell. Zamperini survived in a raft for 47 days (and managed
to somehow style their beards) after his bomber crash landed in the ocean
during World War II, then was sent to a series of prisoner of war camps. At the end of the war, Louie and the other
prisoners in the camp are set free to return to their homes. In the meantime,
Louie tried to find Watanabe in his quarters but realises he had fled. Back
home in America, he kisses the ground and hugs his family.

υπόθεση
Παρακολουθούμε
την περιπέτεια του αθλητή στίβου που, συμμετέχοντας στους Ολυμπιακούς αγώνες
του 1936 στο Βερολίνο, εντυπωσίασε τόσο πολύ τον Χίτλερ, που ζήτησε να τον
γνωρίσει. Κι όχι μόνο. Ο ίδιος άνθρωπος κατόρθωσε να επιβιώσει από αεροπορικό
δυστύχημα, επιπλέοντας σε μια σχεδία επί 47 μέρες, πριν τον ανακαλύψουν οι
Ιάπωνες και τον στείλουν σε στρατόπεδο αιχμαλώτων πολέμου, με την επιστροφή του
τελικά στην πατρίδα να προκαλεί ρίγη συγκίνησης κι ηρωική υποδοχή.
